A simple finger-prick blood test which will tell you how well your body is coping with tumor growth.
FINGERPRIQ TUMOR TEST
IS THIS FOR YOU?
This test measures the levels of tumor biomarkers in your blood. A tumor marker is anything present in or produced by cancer cells or other cells of the body in response to cancer or certain benign (noncancerous) conditions that provides information about a cancer, such as how aggressive it is, what kind of treatment it may respond to, or whether it is responding to treatment.Tumor markers have traditionally been proteins or other substances that are made at higher amounts by cancer cells than normal cells. These can be found in the blood
BIOMARKERS INCLUDED
PSA (Prostrate Specific Antigen) & FPSA (Free-Prostrate Specific Antigen): Do you know someone who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer which makes you wonder about your own prostate health? Are you over 50 years old - or over 45 but have risk factors for prostate cancer like a close family member who has been affected? Or have you been treated for prostate cancer and want to monitor your PSA levels? If you have taken care to understand the risks, benefits and shortcomings of a PSA test and have decided to go ahead, then this is the test for you.
PSA, a protein produced by prostate gland cells, circulates through the body in two ways: either bound to other proteins or on its own. PSA traveling alone is called free PSA. The free-PSA test measures the percentage of unbound PSA; the PSA test measures the total of both free and bound PSA
AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein): An AFP tumor marker test may be used to:
- Help confirm or rule out a diagnosis of liver cancer or cancer of the ovaries or testicles,
- Monitor cancer treatment. AFP levels often go up if cancer is spreading and go down when treatment is working.
- See if cancer has returned after treatment.
- Monitor the health of people with cirrhosis or hepatitis
If you were diagnosed with liver cancer, this test may also be used to help figure out the best treatment you. Certain types of liver cancer related to high AFP levels may be treated with targeted therapy.
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen): A carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) test is used to check how well treatment is working in certain types of cancer, particularly bowel cancer. As well as being a useful marker for bowel cancer, CEA tests can be used to assess other types of cancer, including: lung cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer, ovarian cancer.
CEA levels may also be raised in non-cancerous conditions, such as liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis).
